Pride Month may be nearly over, but that doesn’t signify you shouldn’t cease celebrating it, and what better way than to monitor some LGBTQ+ anime? We know we’ve got you covered on Anime Impact, but why not treat yourself to something different with this list…

While it seems like half of the gays had their lgbtq+ awakening while watching Disney villains, the other half of us are still talking about how we felt all warm and attractive when Sailor Celestial ‘cousins’ Neptune and Uranus got so unusually close.

Here’s a set of 15 LGBTQ+ anime shows you can watch to demonstrate off your Lgbtq+ fest, to help you feel seen and represented all over again!

Flip Flappers (2016)

Middle schooler Cocona lives a still life, trying to please everybody around her and keep out of trouble – until the day an uninhibited girl named Papika blasts into her life, and forces her into a spectacular adventure. One where she’ll hold to deal with conspiracies, robots, and adorable (though occasionally spicy) magical lady transformations!

For anybody sick of every male lover story having to end in heartbreak or death, this quirky, colourful reveal is a unpartnered season of bliss which romps through every anime t

Anime, while broadly encompassing any form of animation created in Japan—whether hand-drawn, computer-rendered, or otherwise—is widely recognized for its distinctive cartoon style, marked by unique character designs and dynamic action. This rich medium also celebrates diversity, including a spectrum of gay anime characters, who add depth and variety to the storytelling, making anime a vibrant showcase of inclusivity and representation in animation.

Many people become fans of the genre due to the lively, engaging, and adventurous characters, as well as the often wide-spanning and otherworldly stories that anime shows and films often tell.

Like all good story-telling mediums and genres, anime is definitely not immune to the worldwide fixation with romance stories, and actually has some of the best, most heart-wrenching tales to tell out of them all. But how does this show over onto queer romance? Japan is relatively steady by Asian standards, and although the country currently has no laws in plac

The Best LGBTQ Characters in Anime

Like I’ve said before, anime is rife with some amazing LGBTQ series. So many, in fact, that this author hasn’t seen them all. What did you expect? Just because I’m queer that I’ve seen EVERY queer anime ever?

I’m sorry, y’all, I’ve been too busy doing other queer shit. And sometimes just normal shit too? Love cooking? Taking a shower? Sleeping? Although those things could all be lgbtq+, I guess. I could be counting gay sheep before bed, but most of the period, to be straightforward , I’m lying wake up wishing that my favorite queer anime characters could be real so that we could hook.

Here is a list of my personal favorite LGBTQ anime characters. And if you include any dark magic available to create them real, I would appreciate your help.

Gren, Cowboy Bebop

Gren is one of the most beautiful and complex portrayals of a transgender character in anime that I have ever seen. A character from the greatest anime of all period, Cowboy Bebop, Gren is a jazz musician living in the frozen small town of Cerulean Crow on Callisto. While the personality presents as male (and for nice reason; Blue Crow is an all-male tow

20 Iconic Gay & LGBT Anime Characters: The Ultimate List

The last few decades have seen tremendous advances in gay visibility in media.

Not only are gay characters a much more common sight, but they’re also much more realistic with more human depictions, rather than low-effort bundles of stereotypes.

Japanese society is in a steady struggle between ancient tradition and new ideas. Prefer Western media, they’ve gradually introduced more healthy depictions of gay characters – even if they’re not always the most notorious.

But here I’d like to take a look at some of my favorite depictions of LGBTQ+ characters in anime. For convenience’s sake, I’ll be including couples along with individuals when possible.

20. Ryo Asuka

Anime: Devilman: Crybaby

Ryo Asuka isn’t the most likable traits by a long shot.

But he’s fantastic for subverting stereotypes of agreeable and meek gay characters in anime.

On the contrary, this guy is dangerous.

He’s a force to be reckoned with that tends to assert dominance everywhere he goes. Of course, that has to perform with the fact that he’s literally Satan.

And as Satan, he also
