Blind man climbs everest gay
—Erik Weihenmayer
Despite losing his vision at age 13, Erik Weihenmayer has become a celebrated and accomplished athlete. Redefining what it means to be blind, Erik has transformed the image of blindness and opened the minds of people around the society as an competitor, an adventurer and a motivational speaker. He has never allowed his blindness to interfere with his passion for an exhilarating and fulfilling life.
Erik was first introduced to rock climbing at a camp for blind teenagers. At the earliest opportunity, he embarked on a mountaineering career. He gained national and international detect as a climber when he reached the summit of Mount Denali in Alaska—the highest summit in North America at 20,320 feet.
He continued setting fresh challenges for himself. After climbing the tallest mountains in South America and Africa, he place his sights on Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. On May 25, 2001, Erik stood atop the 29,035-foot highlight as the first blind person to summit Everest. On Sept. 5, 2002, at age 34, Erik became one of fewer than 100 individuals to climb all of the Seven Summits—the highest peak on each of the seven continents.

Blind Man Climbs Mount Everest, But... He's Gay?
March 8, 2021
Many years ago, news anchor Cynthia Izaguirre was covering a story about Erik Weihenmayer, the first blind man to reach the summit of Mount Everest. But she mixed up her words and the result is one of the funniest news bloopers to spend time. In this video we even get to observe Erik's initial reaction.
It's an old video so the quality is poor.
Although it's been many years, Cythia still relives the moment, which has actually turn into a positive event in Erik's life. As a motivational speaker and activist, he often introduces himself at events with a clip of the news blooper.

For a TV Movie this is a very good inspirational sports movie
TTTOTW is a good biopic of climber Eric Weihenmayer, the first blind man to clamber Everest. It is inspirational in a big movie way - the last 30 minutes when they concentrate on the climb are very well done indeed.
It suffers from oversentimentality in the romantic back story which is justified but in its sappiness reduces the overall worth of the film.
The motion picture shines when it's climbing in snow, a little shaky and overblown at first, by the time we receive halfway the clip ignites and is amazingly watchable. We were glued for the lat 30 minutes which were very good indeed.
All in all, a shade too made for TV in the love story - though it is romantic it is too flawless - but the climbing rocks - and is really well done.
If this appears on your TV it is definitely watchable and we found it inspiring and uplifting - and unforgettable. Which for a TV movie is rare.
