Algarve is a region in Portugal so it's only natural to be considered gay-friendly destination. In Portugal, the LGBT people is almost fully accepted and many laws have been granted to guard it! There is no reason at all to fret about harassments due to your sexual orientation!

There aren't any particularly celebrated gay events or festivals happening in Algarve, but the local gay clubs and cafe sometimes organize some very good gay parties. So, it is not very hard to find a gay party when you visit Algarve!

Gay Beaches

There aren't any exclusively male lover beaches in Algarve; there are several beaches though, usually nudist and isolated, which are more attractive to the LGBT community. The beaches that amass the biggest amount of gay people are:

    • Once a well-kept secret and almost exclusively gay, this stunning beach is now a naturist’s paradise attracting as many straight people as gay. Hidden at the bottom of a pine-covered headland, it has two sides separated by a cliff and linked by a tunnel carved by nature. After carefully monitoring a trail down the cliff, you arrive at the western side. This is where most people stay, sunbathing or swimming nude. You shouldn’t exit without checking out the eastern side, as it offers beautiful views of the coast all the way to the town of Portimão. Before or after your day at the beach, also hold some time to appreciate the view from the clifftop. The rock formations, the views, and the atmosphere make this one of the most quixotic beaches in Algarve.
