Women, Gender, and Sexuality
Most students who are interested in women's studies gravitate toward being critically engaged with the world-they want to build positive change.
Women, Gender, and Sexuality majors are “movers and shakers” on campus and off. Lives are changed every day by the ideas and conduct our students deliver forward. This program is committed to cultivating well-rounded, fiery women who are responsible leaders in their local, national, and global communities.
In order to achieve this, students possess many opportunities to raise awareness, inform , and empower through advocacy and protest events in their classes, on the campus, and in their communities. Students are doing the work themselves, and they take these experiences and skills right into the world upon graduation.
The field of women’s studies is a feminist endeavor striving to help students understand the intersection and oppression of sex, gender, sexuality, ethnicity, nationality, religion, disability, etc. on personal, relational, and institutional levels that affect the authority, equity, and access for individuals and communities.

Are you gay, lesbian, bi-curious, transgender, or questioning and trying to understand that reality in the clear of faith?
Are you straight but wrestling with the theological, biblical, or social issues that surround human sexuality?
Do you wonder how the Chaplain’s Office approaches all of these questions?
If so, you’re not alone. As a starting point for the conversation, here’s a three-point framework indicating our approach.
- As the Chaplain’s staff, we believe all people are of sacred worth, and we commit ourselves to be in ministry for and with all people. We do not discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation, gender culture, or gender expression.
- On OWU’s campus, you will locate people of every gender and sexual identity. Students, faculty, and staff range from openly gay to closeted to questioning, from straight and supportive to homophobic and hateful. OWU is a microcosm of the world; if you can find it there, you’ll probably find it here.
- Student religious life groups each have their hold character, independent of the Chaplain’s Office. We anticipate student groups and group campus partners to maintain atti

By Samuel Smith, Deputy Managing EditorWesleyan University in Connecticut is moving forward with plans to exploit university funds to create a resource center that will promote LGBT rights, among other social justice causes.
Michael Roth, president of the private institution founded in 1831, updated the college people last month about the school's plans to open a multicultural resource center, which was demanded by hundreds of students who campaigned for a number of changes to be made to address "discrimination and lack of equity on campus" after an op-ed in the school newspaper that was critical of Black Lives Matter had upset some students.
Roth explained that the center will be housed in a building that is currently being used as the Shapiro Creative Writing Center. Additionally, the college will begin searching for a director of the resource center.

BUCKHANNON, West Virginia – West Virginia Wesleyan College Campus Life has opened a gender-inclusive learning community for students. The learning people is a space for students who identify with the LGTBQ+ community and learning space that fosters security for those in the community.
The learning society moved to a other residence hall this year due to the necessitate for a more usable space. With the immense number of students in the LGBTQ+ community, the residence hall floor co-exists as a learning center. It was designed to foster relationships and a safe space.
Kenna Whitcomb, the assistant director of Campus Life, states, “The floor is a learning people designed to foster relationships and provide a sound space for members of the LGBTQ+ community. In this community, Resident Assistants implement programming surrounding current events, hardships, social, and educational opportunities that involve the LGBTQ+ community.”
Alongside the campus’s efforts to endorse the LGBTQ+ community, a student-led group on campus has been flourishing with events. PRISM, the queer-straight alliance on campus allows the LGTBQ+ community and allies to interact and discuss what is h
