NM Genders and Sexualities Alliance Network
 

YOUTH EVENTS

Our overnight and day-long events build resiliency and leadership skills. These include youth-led education on identity, social justice/oppression, healthy relationships, political and support education, social networking, and peer helping skills.

SUPPORT GROUPS

We keep two, bi-monthly virtual support groups for youth and for adults. These groups provide participants with community and peer support, navigation to  services and teaching on LGBTQ+ history and culture.

GSA CLUB SUPPORT

We support GSA Clubs through in-person visits, providing resources and offering assistance to clubs on topics from starting a GSA, to meeting topics, and how to accept your GSA to the next level.

COMMUNITY AND FAMILY TRAINING

We provide training for school staff, counselors, and community members on how to be supportive and inclusive of Queer youth.

THERAPY AND CASE NAVIGATION SERVICES

We provide outpatient therapy and case navigation to LGBTQ+ individuals of all ages.

LGBTQ Collaborative

The LGBTQ Collaborative is an employee resource team within the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). The group supports lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and queer employees, patients, families, friends and allies.

LGBTQ Collaborative is open to the entire UNM Health System. We work together to create a shielded , supportive environment focused on the health and well-being of communities we serve.

At UNM Health:

  • You have the right to the look after you need regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. See your patient bill of rights at UNM Hospital and UNM Sandoval Regional Medical Center (SRMC).
  • The UNM Hospital visitor guide prohibits visitor restrictions based on sexual orientation or gender identity.
  • The SRMC visitor guidelines support your right as a patient to define family for yourself and to welcome loved ones 24/7 as your “partners in care.”
  • Our employment nondiscrimination policy includes the terms “sexual orientation” and “gender identity.”
  • Staff receive Healthcare Equality Index-approved training in LGBTQ patient-centered care.

    PFLAG Albuquerque
    PFLAG is a national company that promotes the health and well-being of womxn loving womxn, gay, bisexual and gender non-conforming persons, as well as their families and friends. PFLAG provides opportunity for dialogue about sexual orientation and gender identity, and acts to create a society that is fit and respectful of human diversity. The Albuquerque chapter of PFLAG meets the third Tuesday of every month from 7:00-9:30 pm at the First Congregational Church, 2801 Lomas Blvd NE, on the corner of Lomas and Girard.

    Agora Crisis Center
    The Agora Crisis Center provides trained peer counselors available over the phone to provide kind, non-judgmental listening for anything you want to consider . Agora also provides a helpful referral service of agencies and individuals around New Mexico.

    Transgender Resource Center of New Mexico
    The Trans Resource Center of Unused Mexico is being established in order to provide support, education, information, and assistance to the trans population in the mention of New Mexico and their families and loved ones.
