Lgbtq events 2022

Note: Traveling as an LGBTQ+ person always carries a certain degree of risk. It is our reality as we navigate a earth with 60+ countries criminalizing our relationships and a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ legislation around the world. We encourage our traveling people to understand the laws and cultural challenges they may face in any destination they choose to attend for Pride and beyond. Don't be afraid of the world, but always research information specific to your travels. Enjoy Pride, be vigilant, and look out for each other!

The LGBTQ+ rights movement has made tremendous strides over the past not many decades and much of the progress in awareness is thanks in part to gay pride parades and marches that hold taken place in cities around the world.

The global landscape for LGBTQ+ rights, protections and acceptance varies tremendously by location, with some destinations attracting millions of visitors to their events like Madrid Homosexual Pride, Sao Paulo Male lover Pride or San Francisco Gay Pride, while more than 70 other countries have laws that permit discrimination or persecution of LGBTQ+ people.

Pride Around the Society

#OutrightProud

Across the world, Lgbtq+ fest remains a protest, a salient act of resistance uniting lesbian, gay, attracted to both genders, transgender, intersex, and gay (LGBTIQ) people. As socio-cultural and political contexts evolve, Pride and LGBTIQ representation events celebrate resilience, progress, and courage, and they showcase the persistence of LGBTIQ communities in constructing liberating alternatives enforced cisheternormativity.

Outright International identified at least 100 UN member states worldwide where Pride and other LGBTIQ visibility events were held in 2024, with at least 65 of these holding Identity festival events in multiple cities. These events aim at resisting state-sanctioned homophobia, biphobia, transphobia, and intersexphobia, building public awareness about LGBTIQ populations through the reaffirmation of the existence of diversity, building community and collaboration within LGBTIQ populations, and celebrating gains. Celebration doesn’t always take the form of marches or parades; it has evolved to include festivals, performances, social events, press conferences, and more.
