Nancy Mckeon never dispelled the rumors, in fact, she pretty much just laughs at it or make a joke about it....I think she is attracted to women.

She made me a blonde wig when we had sex.

No straight girl has that much raw sexual energy with her female co-stars like that.

Wasn't there a very extraordinary episode where Jo was caught sniffing shoplifter Kelly Afinado's field hockey jock strap?

If you're of a certain age, or just an aficionado of classic ’80s television, then you know Blair, Jo, Natalie and Tootie aren’t AfterEllen’s newest bloggers. We wish. They are, of course, the girls from The Facts of LifeThe Facts of Life. (I’m physically unable to say the title just once. Damn you, catchy theme song!)

The ’80s were a very excellent decade for all-female ensemble sitcoms. The Golden Girls and Designing Women both ran for seven hilarious seasons. And The Proof of Life lasted an unbelievable nine. Nine years for a show starring only young women. Grab that, Remington Steele.

During its run, the cast of Facts included Cloris Leachman, Molly Ringwald, Jami Gertz, and some dude named George Clooney. Then, television history was made when Geri Jewell was added to the cast as Blair’s cousin, also named Geri. “Cousin Geri” marked the first time an actor with cerebral palsy was featured on a TV series.

Jewell went on to appear in the HBO series, Deadwood, hone her stand-up comedy execute, come out as a lesbian, and just recently published her second autobiography.

Why
For some reasons that are not relevant but I'm glad to share if anyone is interested, I showed up at work this morning with my Facts of Animation Seasons 1 and 2 DVDs in my backpack. I believe that this shows how very awesome I am, so I showed them to a coworker of similar age, who I thought might be entertained that I was carrying them around. She was, and we had a bit of a chat about the show.  Some other coworkers overheard and, also thinking that the performance is awesome, linked in. It instantly became apparent that if you hold a vague memory of the reveal, I can assist fill in details, and if you have a doubt about the display, I can retort it. One high-ranking official in our office said, "Hey, did Nancy McKeon ever come out?"

As I acknowledged in a previous post, the speculation regarding Jo's sexuality is nothing new, and I suppose it's not surprising for someone to extend that speculation to the actress portraying Jo. Nevertheless, I was quite taken aback by the interrogate. It certainly implies that it's a fact known to the asker that Nancy McKeon is gay, and that's problematic unto itself. We're not talking about a comment from a member of the potentially ignorant masses here. We'

An Open Letter To Nancy McKeon (aka, Jo Polniaczek)

Dear Nancy McKeon,

My name is Rhea Butcher. I am a 31 year old woman loving woman woman living in Los Angeles, who does stand up comedy. You probably don't know me but you made a huge impact on my experience. I grew up in Akron, Ohio. It is a modestly sized city/town that was once known for it's rubber factories (made popular recently by the rock band The Black Keys) though it never quite recovered from the 70's-80's manufacturing recession, into which I was born. These days, it's mostly known as the town that LeBron James and The Black Keys left. I was an only youth and an only child that grew up in the early days of cable, when syndication was just starting to get it's legs. At age 5, I was already a large fan of Soap and Three's Company.

Since I lived in the same residence as my grandparents as a kid, we had tons of cable before cable was as ubiquitous it is today. One of my favorite channels was USA, mainly because they played tv shows I'd never heard of before. One of those shows that I IMMEDIATELY fell in love with was your present, "The Facts Of Life". There were not a lot of tv shows
