13 Surprising ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Hookups & Proximate Calls (VIDEO)
As Dr. Callie Torres (Sara Ramirez) once aptly put it, all the characters on Grey’s Anatomy are related through sex. So much, in fact, that fans have drawn up trees to chart the Grey Sloan doctors’ sexual exploits.
Surgeon Jo Wilson (Camilla Luddington) just added a branch to that tree in the Season 17 premiere, making an ill-fated booty summon to plastic surgeon Jackson Avery (Jesse Williams). Here are some of the most surprising hookups — and adjacent misses — from the ABC show’s story so far.
Jo & Jackson
Jo propositioned Jackson at the hospital in Season 17, asking for a “sexual favor” to help her get over her ex-husband Alex Karev (Justin Chambers), who left her. But when she went to kiss Jackson, she broke down in tears. Awkward.
Jo & Schmitt
Long before Levi Schmitt (Jake Borelli) realized he was gay, and while he was still a bumbling intern, he and Jo had a one-night stand that she immediately regretted.
Alex & Callie
The Grey’s writers retconned a hookup between Alex and Callie into Season 6, telling us they slept together when she was a resident and he was
Bisexual Callie on Grey's Anatomy
Callie started off on the show having relationships with men (George and Mark) and then a femme lesbian (Arizona) pursued her and Callie "came out" as bi. In the last episode, a recently-divorced-from-Arizona Callie was hit on by another femme lesbian.
Apparently, mainstream t.v. isn't ready for a butch lesbian character. As a "femme" who likes other "femmes," I care for watching the lesbian/bi hook-ups on Grey's (and Glee.) But it would be so interesting to notice a female character that identified as gay or bi whose appearance actually advertised their sexual orientation.
I think it's comical that Callie doesn't dress or look in any way like a gal who identifies as lgbtq+. Yet the show's writers would have us assume gay women sniff her out instantly, and she doesn't get hit on by random men. The show totally ignores the whole "invisible femme" pheno
This is the first recap of the gay parts of the eleventh season of Grey’s Anatomy, aka Shonda Rhimes Night: Execute One.
Six full minutes. That’s how long I waited for Callie and Arizona to show up on screen. It’s unacceptable. Let’s cut everyone else out of this show and turn it into their lady-loving telenovela and be done with it. I mean, I love Grey’s Anatomy, but could we at least get an old fashioned spin-off called ‘Lez Practice: Callie and Arizona’ or something?
Shonda loves us. We are the shows gays. Got a spinoff for us, what would you say?
So six minutes in, we acquire our #calzona — which is the worst combo name ever. it’s favor something you can request at Pizza Hut but shouldn’t — and of course, they’re talking about a baby because once TV gays get married, they have kids, duh. More specifically, they wish to have another toddler. Another Baby. Because accumulating babies is a thing that people should act, you know? Forget that Callie and Arizona don’t have time to possess sex or enjoy coffee together at home in the morning. Forget that there’s already an adorable little human in their busy family and
A television network in India was censured for airing a Grey’s Anatomy scene that featured a “homosexual encounter,” which reportedly violated publish guidelines.
The Grey’s scene in question is from a 2008 Season 5 episode, where one of the show’s female doctors (Callie Torres, a bisexual character) asks for sex advice from a male surgeon (Sloane) on how to please a woman.
In India—where homosexuality is still illegal—complaints can be filed over TV shows that contain sex, drugs, nudity and, more broadly, content that goes against the government’s “social values.” India’s Broadcasting Content Complains sent a notice to Actor Channel after receiving complaints about the episode, which aired in June.
Mashablereports:
The observe was given after a complaint from the ministry of information and broadcasting which described the scenes as ‘indecent’ and ‘vulgar’. BCCC, a self-regulatory body set up by the Indian Broadcasting Foundation, has asked for a answer from the channel by Dec. 1.
India’s broadcast networks typically censor programs by removing scenes that could be deemed offensive, but with stricter guidelines than American programming:
