A direct heir of Tipo Sauna, which existed for a few years downtown, Sauna Camões has a lot more room and much better facilities than its predecessor. It has 240 square meters, split between two floors: the first has a bar, a dry sauna cabin, a Turkish bath, locker rooms and showers; the second floor has a community room with magazines and a TV set showing gay porn flicks, several closed cabins and a larger, expose one.

I visited on a Friday tardy afternoon and my experience was very different to a lot of the other reviewers. I found the facilities to be very clean and successfully maintained, with no evidence of smells at all. The staff were cooperative and polite. That being said, the facilities are somewhat limited. There are just two saunas - one soggy and one parch and neither are as hot as they would normally be. There is plenty of room, but is taken up with multiple private cabins, nearly all of which were unoccupied (but were clean). There were disappointingly no GHs, and no jacuzzi as other reviewers have commented. There were no cold showers or a cold plunge. It would accept relatively little to remedy the majority of these omissions. In terms of the visitors, it’s wasn’t too engaged, but then I wouldn’t have expected it to be at 16:30 on a Friday. There must have been around 10-15 visitors there of a big mix of ages and builds. It certainly wasn’t full of elderly men as others have commented. The clientele were predominantly more reserved than I’ve previously witnessed, although cannot comment on whether that’s cultural or just due to tiny number of visitors. Porto is one of the big cities of Portugal hosting a dynamic gay scene with several gay venues like lgbtq+ bars, clubs, saunas etc. The LGBT acceptance is at pretty moderate levels and people, year after year, become more clear and acceptant towards homosexuality. - Visit the clubs Plano B, Zoom and Gare for a fun dancing experience. Keep in intellect that these clubs tend to attract mixed crowds!
- Drink a coffee or a blazing chocolate at Guarany, Cafe Majestic, Praia da Luz and Brasileira. Even though these cafe are not exclusively gay, they are gay-popular.
- Visit the gay saunas of Porto to blow off some steam. Sauna Thermas 205 is one of the most popular saunas at the center of Porto, and there you will spot several locals and tourists of a wide range of ages. Spartakus Sauna, on the other hand, is a great option close the center of Porto where you can consume a fun evening in a more intimate environment.
