Antifa Activists Plan To Be present at White Lives Matter Rallies

Word of two White Lives Matter rallies has spread among many activist groups, one of them entity the controversial group, Antifa, who's members said they plan to be there.

Antifa is a political movement comprised of self-styled anti-fascist activists and groups. Their recognizable for their violent protests and rallies.

Corey Lemley, a 27-year-old sat down with NewsChannel 5 Wednesday. He's an East Nashville native who has found himself in the center of some not-so-peaceful protests.

Lemley is an anit-fascism activist. "Its really just a political stance that you're against fascism," he explained.

A couple months ago Lemley was front and center as ANTIFA protestors faced off against colorless supremacists in Charlottesville. He said he upped his advocacy after the current administration moved into the Light House.

"A lot of fascism was showing, a lot of attacks on the immigrant community, the Muslim community, the gay community," Lemley explained.

He hates the thought that alt right groups have an eye on areas in Tennessee. "They've been in these communities, they've been recruiti

Anti-extremism or anti-fascism?

Anti-extremism frameworks, popular in policy and academic circles, are masking the multi-dimensional and pan-European nature of contemporary fascism and the role of the state.

Not since the early 1990s, and thepogroms at Hoyerswerda and Rostock acquire Europe’s far-right movements posed such a tangible threat to the safety of racial and religious minorities. In revelation, levels of aggression and state responses are far more worrying today than in the 1990s when hostels housing asylum seekers and guest workers were firebombed. There are a number of reasons why the central issues connected with far-right force and racism are not being fully and publicly discussed.

A fertile climate for fascism

First, fascism is a much more complicated and diverse phenomenon than it was in the 1990s. (Read an IRR report: Pedlars of Hate: the stormy impact of the European far Right.) When violence is carried out by neo-Nazis, it is easier to understand and see as linked to fascism. But the far Right is a fluid, evolving scene which is constantly mutating. The Autonomous Nationalists, white resistance movements, the counter-jihadists, the ultra-patriot ide

Hate crimes in the nation's 10 largest cities spiked significantly last year

LEILA FADEL, HOST:

For the second year in a row, loathe crimes in large U.S. cities hit a register high. That's according to a new report from the Center for the Study of Hate and Extremism at California Declare University, San Bernardino. Chicago saw nearly 200 reported hate crimes last year. That's up from 104 in the previous year. And that trend is continuing across the region. The 10 largest cities have seen an average increase of 22%.

Criminal justice professor emeritus Brian Levin has been collecting numbers on hate crimes since 1986, and he joins us now. Thanks for being here, Brian.

BRIAN LEVIN: Oh, thank you so much for having me.

FADEL: So what is behind these record-high numbers, particularly over the past three years, according to your data?

LEVIN: I think a variety of things - the pandemic and how grievance then became aligned with different groups. What I mean is, first, Asian folks were blamed for COVID and the responses to it, and then Jews, et cetera, et cetera. But it allowed this kind of clustering of folks with different grievances to gain together online because they were online more.

‘Antifa’ Knife Strike Claim By Anti-Muslim Internet Personality Challenged By Witnesses, Police

An alleged assault covered by the Ottawa Citizen and National Post may not have happened as reported. Kevin J. Johnston, an online media personality of Canada’s anti-Muslim right, claims he and his cameraman were assaulted by ‘Antifa’ members, resulting in the arrests of four individuals who are facing several charges. The incident took place last Saturday, before the “Million Canadian March” on Parliament Hill that was erroneously reported by Breitbart as a rally of 5000 Trump supporters. In reality, a generous estimate of attendees would place the crowd size at 200.

Both the National Post and the Ottawa Police Service treated Johnston’s version of events as credible, despite contradictions in his account. Ottawa Police arrested individuals pointed out by Johnston, despite being told by others present that Johnston initiated the violence by assaulting a young female. Charges, including assault with a weapon, were laid against individuals identified by Johnston.

Audrey, a demonstrator who witnessed the incident, is critical of how the police handled th
